Here are some tips for protecting your skin in the winter:
Moisturize
Apply a moisturizer or ointment right after a shower or bath while your skin is still damp. Creams are better than lotions because they contain more oil and less water. You can also use ointments on your hands and feet, especially before bed.
Use a humidifier
Dry air can dehydrate your skin, so a humidifier can help maintain the ideal humidity level in your home.
Protect your skin from the sun
Even in the winter, you should use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher when you're going to be outside for a long time. Up to 80% of the sun's UV rays can reach you through clouds.
Protect your skin from the wind
Cover your face and use a petroleum-based lip balm.
Wear soft, breathable clothing
Avoid wearing wool or rough clothing directly on your skin. Instead, wear light layers made from soft, breathable materials like cotton or silk.
Wear gloves
Wear warm gloves when you go outside and silicone gloves when you wash dishes.
Eat a healthy diet
Eat foods that are rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, and omega-3 fatty acids.
Avoid long, hot showers
Hot water can dry out your skin.
Use gentle cleansers
Avoid face washes that contain drying ingredients like fragrances and additives.Instead, use face washes that contain oatmeal or chamomile.
